orange flowers family {corona family photographer}

I have watched this family grow up right before my eyes. The little guy in the family, Landon, is bff’s with my little guy Evan. And they have been hanging out together the last almost 3 years and are best buds in kindergarten right now. We trade playdates once a week and they want to really have them everyday because they get along so well. Landon’s older brother has grown up with our twins and are also in the same class together. They all love playing and running around and having that many boys all in one group makes for a lot of laughter, burps and mud!

I had the pleasure of updating their family photos. You see, it’s a busy life with 4 (I am guilty of not hiring someone myself for 4 years!) and they haven’t had family photos done since Merrill was barely 1-year-old. And Landon wasn’t even in any of the family portraits. Well, the official, pro kind of portraits.

And I am the one that got to take their photos of them! And I love them and their love together and of course that most of them have freckles and beautiful red hair. And don’t forget the beauty, oldest daughter that is on her way to high school and just a spitten image of her mom!

25 comments and I will gift them an 8×12!!!

how I feel today. {big bear photographer}

Conquered an epic storm in Big Bear. Against all odds – made it to my sister’s. Went through crazy snow in my minivan with chains of course. And today I made it down the mountain. And this is how it feels! (and it’s a little sneak peek of my favorite local Corona family). And snow pics will be here too. Funny how hard it is to take shots when my hands are full with my 18 month-old.

For today, I am headed to get my hair done by the fabulous Alicia at Alcazar Hair Connection and it’s going to be interesting to get there since California is getting so much rain this week. It’s coming down in buckets!

Kimberly Farrell - Gorgeous Bridget!!! LOVE IT!!

an upland engagement {upland wedding photographer}

I’m an OC girl. Born and raised. It’s a cool thing to talk about remembering when the 5 freeway was a small freeway and most of southern orange county were orange fields. I remember when the El Toro Marine base had Marines there and when the Blue Angels actually flew there anually. I remember as a kid driving the Ortega and it had barely any cars on it. And when San Juan Capistrano felt like a long way away down the 2 laned PCH.

I also remember how far Upland felt. And how I didn’t know much about the mountains other than a few trips to Big Bear. And funny how things turned out, I married a guy that spent his pre-teen and teenage years growing up in all places, UPLAND! And as I got to know the city through David, I grew more and more in love with it. Everytime I drive up Euclid with the huge trees going up the center divider all the way to the top of the road and the eclectic, historic houses and oh, the craftsman houses how I feel. I want to move there. I want my kids to grow up in one of those houses. I want those big oaks and pepper trees scattered all over my yard and have an attic with creaky hard wood floors. And I love the people in Upland. There are beautiful lots there and beautiful landscapes. The colors and the vibe of the old town, oh so cool!

And how lucky I felt when I was at the Dos Lagos Bridal Fair this past November (yes, I need to share photos from the faire!!!) that I met the nicest family. They have three daughters and literally the day before they came to the faire, they found out their oldest daughter, Ali was engaged to be married to her high school sweetheart Brian. And I knew that I had to get to know this family.

And I was lucky to meet all of them and get to photo Ali and Brian’s engagement photos. They had a quick chance for us to get together while Ali was down visiting from Idaho where she currently works and lives. Brian is working with his dad’s local construction company and was able to come after work to meet up with me. We had a fabulous time exploring all parts of Upland. Seeing the love these two have reassured me how much fun it is having this job. And how much I love seeing people in love and especially being able to capture it on film.

***Edited to add – Ali & Brian – have your friends and family leave 25 comments and I will gift you an 8×12 of your favorite image from your session.

ring in the new year {california wedding photographer}

When I shot the Halloween wedding, we lost light, fast. It was fall and the sun is down at about 5 p.m. (something to think about brides when planning your timing for your ceremony and reception and timing of your bridal photos). I had this vision of their rings on a tee with the sunset mostly because Jacob’s a pro golfer and since the wedding was at a golf course, then it’s a great combination.

I did get to take ring shots a few weeks after the wedding. I like to call this “Trash the Rings Session” but I really didn’t trash them, I just photoed them. Jacob and Harmony let me “borrow” the rings at my sister Natalie’s house to do more detailed shots of them. And I am pretty happy with the way they turned out.

I am thinking that while offering a “post-wedding” session either the day after or the weekend of viewing all your wedding photos that a “ring sesh” is in order. Let me know if you are interested in adding a “post-wedding” session when booking your wedding.

And in honor of “ringing in the new year” I have the top 6 images I took of their rings. Please vote and I will gift them a 8×12 of the most voted on image.

A Halloween Wedding {California Destination Wedding Photographer} – Part I

I admit. I waited a bit to post this wedding. I actually was having a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to post. “Why?”, you ask. I was able to spend the entire weekend with Harmony and Jacob and their families and friends and I just had so much fun getting to know all of them. And I became attached. And I became close to all the hundreds of images I shot for them. And it’s hard to narrow down 2 days of shooting.

Harmony and Jacob are a special couple. They met on a fluke. And became soulmates. He took to her instantly and you can feel their love. They are small town people with huge hearts and the love that surrounds them is inspiring and refreshing. And truly, I miss them and the whole gang of people I got to know on their wedding weekend.

I was able to travel with my hubby and baby girl (lucky me – my sister-in-law took all 3 boys for us) to shoot for the weekend at Saddle Creek Resort nestled in the foothills of the central valley. The rolling hills and fall colors was a photographers dream. The weekend started with an amazing rehersal dinner with homemade pizza, oysters, cocktails and hanging out by the firepit. Later that evening the guys took off for a night of poker and the gals to chat about what will come the next day.

Harmony and Jacob’s wedding day began with the getting ready in each bungalow and lots of laughter amongst friends. The perfect 70 degree weather made it picture perfect and only the way Harmony and Jacob deserved. The custom arch and flower details in fall colors were perfectly matched with the color scheme of deep browns and oranges.

Their wedding flowers were designed and planned to the smallest detail by my wonderful sister as well as her uber awesome coordinating details, Natalie Galasso of Simply That Flowers and soon to be Natalie Galasso Designs.
